Can I book a trial lesson to see if the school is right for me?

More than that, you can have the entire first week free! Try any subject you like, or if you're unsure which level you're at, try both and see which you feel most comfortable in, all absolutely free.

Book your free trial today on our website.

Can I watch my child dance?

We prefer not to have parents in the studio on a regular basis, as it can be distracting for other children. But we do have a window in the door of the studio through which you are welcome to watch the class. If a younger child is particularly upset or reluctant to join in we will allow the parent to accompany the child into class until they feel more comfortable.

What should I wear for the first lesson?

Shorts or leggings, t-shirt and bare feet are fine for most lesson.  If you're taking a tap class we have a

borrow box with most sizes of tap shoes for short term use. Long hair tied up in a bun for ballet, a high plait for other subjects.

Is there a School Uniform?

We have a compulsory uniform for all dance classes of:

  • Girls Grade 2 and below- Turquoise leotard and skirt/ leggings, white socks or ballet tights, white tap or ballet shoes (or bare feet for Modern and Acro)

  • Girls Grade 3 and above- Black leotard, pink ballet tights and shoes, or black leggings and tap shoes.

  • Boys all grades- Black cycling shorts or laggings and white unitard.

Where can I buy the dance uniform?

From us. We have a small dance shop at the reception desk with the full range of our regular dance uniform in stock. We order from our supplier weekly, so if we don't have your size in stock, it should be there by your next lesson.

What about the branded DDC Apparel?

Branded sublimated apparel is ordered termly from an external company. All items are made to measure on demand and take 8-10 weeks to arrive. See a member of staff or message for details.

Why choose DDC?

Dewsbury Dance Centre is a family run business that has been brought the love of dance and performance to hundreds of local students for more than fifteen years. Many of our dancers have been with us, and stayed with us, for over a decade. So whether you dance for fun, fitness or a future career, there's always a place in our friendly community for you. But if that's not enough, here's a few more reasons to choose DDC.

️We have small class sizes, capping each class at 8 for Pre-school, 12 for Juniors and 10 for senior classes. This allows us to give each child the personal attention they need, whilst also avoiding crowded class rooms with no space to dance.

️We are affordable. By only charging four weeks at a time, compared to other schools which often ask for a full term of 10 or 12 weeks up front, we allow you to spread the cost into more manageable chunks.

️We offer performers a range of opportunities including IDTA exams, competitions and an annual show. But nothing is compulsory, so you can choose how much or little you wish to be involved.
